Growing up I was always told Mullet were trash fish even thought we fished them for bait and to eat. We set gil nets then threw cast nets I'm getting close to 40 now and have never seen anyone here catch mullet on rod and reel locally in the FL panhandle. I've got to give this a shot.

I will never do this. Take the fillet off between the 2 side fins and there is a small pocket to get your finger in slowly pull the meat from the skin and you'll get a better yield then using a knife IMO. Add never take the bones out lol. I wont waste any flesh.

Mullets are great eating fish. Raw, pan fried, baked, smoked, they are delicious. Good bait, too 😃
